Police: Pregnant woman's arm severed in Sunset Park; husband likely suspect

Police are still searching for the man accused of cutting off his pregnant wife’s arm and two fingers Thursday in Sunset Park.
EMS responded to a call reporting the incident at 523 55th St. around 12:20 p.m.
Police believe her husband, 35-year-old Yong Lu, cut off part of his wife’s arm above the bicep with a kitchen knife and two of her fingers on her left hand. Lu then managed to take off.
Police are now working to learn where he might be.
The 35-year-old wife is recovering at Bellevue Hospital where police say doctors were able to reattach her arm.
News 12 is unsure if the assault affected her unborn child.
Police say the couple has another child together but could not tell News 12 if the child was home at the time of in incident.
This incident has stunned many on the block.
“It's kind of shocking because you don't expect things like this happening near you, in your neighborhood,” said neighbor Hong Zheng.
