Longwood residents are calling for a stop sign to be put up due to dozens of car accidents that they say could have been prevented.
The neighbors are calling for a stop sign to be installed at East 173rd Street and Longfellow Avenue.
According to the Vision Zero website, there has been at least one incident at the intersection within the past year.
Resident Jose Henriquez says they have been asking the city Department of Transportation for a stop sign for more than two decades to no avail.
In order to get the sign installed, residents need to fill out a request online and then the DOT has to do a study to see how many accidents have happened in the area.

News 12 reached out to Councilman Salamanca Jr.’s office, and he sent a letter to the DOT requesting an immediate study be done.
