Seniors baffled over handicapped spots at Holbrook CVS

The handicapped parking spots at a Holbrook CVS have some seniors in need baffled.
The CVS on Main Street has six regular parking spaces that are actually closer than the lot’s three handicapped spots.
Virginia Brindisi, who uses the pharmacy and has a handicapped parking permit, says it doesn’t make much sense to her why the parking lot is laid out in this way.
Some believe the reason for the unusual placement of the handicapped spots may be a result of the odd-shaped parking lot and a narrow turn near the front of the store.
CVS sent News 12 a statement about the parking situation at the Holbrook pharmacy. The company says it wanted to move the handicapped spots to a closer location but Brookhaven Town rejected the proposal based on space and safety concerns.
The Town of Brookhaven says the handicapped spaces are in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. News 12 has reached out to Brookhaven about the “space and safety concerns” and is waiting for a response.
