An undocumented Brooklyn couple is in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody after trying to visit family at a U.S. base in upstate New York.

Perla Silva is making an emotional plea to ICE to release her parents, who have been holding them for a week.

Silva says the ordeal began when Concepcion and Margarito Silva tried to visit Fort Drum to celebrate Independence Day with their son-in-law, a U.S. soldier.

She says when her parents presented their IDs to military police, they called in Customs and Border Patrol, who say the longtime Brooklyn residents admitted to being "illegally present in the U.S."

They were then charged and turned over to ICE custody at the Buffalo Federal Detention Center.

Elected officials, including Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, are standing alongside Perla, calling for her parents' release.

Silva says their release is all the more urgent because they have serious health problems.

ICE says the couple will remain at the Buffalo facility until their hearing before an immigration judge. Officials were unable to say when the hearing would be.
