MOTT HAVEN -

The newest development in Mayor Bill de Blasio's Vision Zero initiative is underway at the corner of East 143rd Street and Third Avenue in Mott Haven.

The city Department of Transportation has promised changes that will keep residents in the area safe.

Those include more direct crossings across East 143rd Street, clearer signage for pedestrians and drivers and improved accessibility for people with disabilities.

The crosswalk sits adjacent to parks, a fire department and two large residential buildings.
