Police charge man with wife's murder at Monroe Houses

A man is charged with murder after his wife was found dead at their Soundview apartment.
Police found the woman, 62-year-old Maria Pena, after family members told them they hadn’t heard from her or her husband, Nelson Pena, for three days.

Police responded to apartment 5A of the Monroe Houses on Thursday just after 8 p.m.to find Maria dead, with no obvious signs of trauma.
The medical examiner revealed the cause of death was homicidal asphyxia, including compression of the neck.
Police announced the arrest of Nelson Pena on Friday.

Pena has been charged with murder in the second degree.
