Norwood's Whalen Park reopens

A newly renovated park in Norwood recently reopened to the community, to the delight of those that live nearby.
Whalen Park is open to the public, totally transforming into a multigenerational playground.
Parkgoers say it used to be home to drugs and the homeless, but colorful new additions have improved it exponentially.
The park now includes spray showers, slides, climbing blocks and chess tables.
The project was proposed about seven years ago. Over $1.6 million in funding from the mayor, City Council and borough president brought it to fruition, with construction starting last June.
Whalen Park is easily accessible, as it sits just steps from the D train's 205th Street station.
