The NAACP is responding to a viral video of a racist rant by calling on investigators to interview everyone involved.
The video showing a white man repeatedly screaming a racial slur at another driver on Deer Park Avenue went viral on social media earlier this month.
NAACP Long Island Regional Director Tracey Edwards says incidents involving hate speech aren't new to the Island. She says Suffolk District Attorney Tim Sini reached out to her and let her know that they would be reviewing the video.
Edwards says she wants to see both parties -- the man shown in the video and the man who posted it -- to be interviewed to determine if the incident could be considered aggravated harassment.
The DA's office reportedly found that no crime was committed based on what was shown in the video.
In a statement Sini called the rant "extremely disturbing and offensive." He says without more information from the person who posted the video, he can't call it a crime.
