GRAND CONCOURSE -

Grand Concourse became a sea of pride as the Dominican Day Parade stepped off Sunday.

Elected officials, local businesses and residents lined the streets with Dominican flags for the big event.

The parade marks the celebration of a tightly knit community of people with Dominican heritage.

"It's important because it makes our community grow stronger," says Bronx resident Melissa Perez. "Get to know a lot of different companies that are operating here and that helps our community grow."
