Peter Savino, manager at Proline Car Stereo, says having a remote starter can be an easy way to solve the problem.

A remote starter can cost about $100.

Another device Savino says is a must have in your car is a dash camera.

A dash camera records video of the driver in front and in back of your car and is useful  in case you happen to be in an accident.

He says the video provides proof of who's really at fault when it comes down to dealing with insurance companies. Dash cameras run from $25 to $500.
