A new study shows the 12 most dangerous neighborhoods in the city where pedestrians and cyclists are injured or killed as a result of moving vehicles.
According to the study from Localize.city, data collected from January 2013 to January 2018 reveals the most dangerous areas.
Among the top neighborhoods, Williamsburg had 704 cyclists and 704 pedestrians reported injured, with nine people killed.
The study found access to a nearby bridge where most of the incidents occurred in Williamsburg "confusing and dangerous."
The study read, "Around the bridge on the South Side of Williamsburg was the only area among the 12 where crashes injuring cyclists were similar to those injuring pedestrians — indicating how much bike traffic has increased in the area in the past several years."
Crown Heights also topped the list with 206 cyclists and 421 pedestrians injured with three fatal incidents.
The most dangerous area in the Bronx is University Heights in Fordham, according to the study.
At least 167 cyclists and 891 people were reported injured as a result of incidents involving vehicles. Eight of the incidents resulted in deaths.
The study attributed elevated tracks and an overabundance of auto shops near Jerome Avenue as a major contributing factor for the incidents.
