Police: Woman beaten with baseball bat over social media spat

A woman was beaten unconscious with a baseball bat in an attack that allegedly stemmed from a dispute on social media, according to Bridgeport police.
The incident happened just after midnight on the 300 block of Lenox Avenue. Authorities say four women showed up in a car, and then one of them whacked the 19-year-old victim with a bat.
The victim was taken to a hospital where she remains in serious condition.
News 12 spoke with the victim by phone. She requested that her identity be withheld.
"The left side of my skull is fractured," she says, adding that she's in pain and would undergo surgery.
Police Chief AJ Perez says they know the identity of at least one of the assailants and plan to soon make an arrest.
Authorities say it's not uncommon for online disputes to result in physical attacks.
Police say they're in the process of examining surveillance video and wish to speak with potential witnesses who have not yet come forward.
