Complaints by Throgs Neck residents leads to cleanup of vacant lot

A vacant lot that was deemed an eyesore by residents in Throgs Neck has finally been cleaned up.
Residents complained that a vacant lot on Meyers Street was filled with cars and trash. Neighbors say they called 311 many times, but nothing was ever done.
News 12 learned about the issue and reached out to local officials who in turn called on city agencies to clean up the mess Thursday. Workers jumped into action and cleared the lot of all debris.
The lot is owned by the city Parks Department and was previously maintained by Better Garden Florist, but when it went out of business more than a year ago the site became a dumping ground.
Bronx leaders say they have spoken with the Parks Department to ensure the site is kept clean.
