Man accused of killing Bronx EMT appears in court

THE BRONX -

It's been more than a year since a Bronx EMT lost her life on the job.

Now family and friends of Yadira Arroyo say they're still waiting for justice.

Jose Gonzalez appeared in court Monday in connection with her death.

He's charged with murder, manslaughter and robbery.

Prosecutors say he stole Arroyo's ambulance and ran over her with it in February 2017.

Monday’s hearing discussed the results of a psych evaluation that Gonzalez's lawyers say is not yet complete.

Proceedings were delayed after the defendant changed his religion.

Gonzalez's next court appearance is set for Sept. 27.
