Eighteen million Americans used grocery apps to shop online for food, according to a new economic report.
Emarketer reported 18 million Americans used apps at least once a month in 2017 to shop for groceries.
Economists say the outlook over the next few years could result in almost double the amount reported by Emarketer.
The data and research site predicts 30 million U.S. adults will use grocery shopping apps to stock their fridge by 2020.
Popular apps include AmazonFresh, Thrive Market and a number of self-prepared food subscription companies like Blue Apron— all of which deliver to customers' doorsteps.
