A social services organization hosted a job fair Friday for residents looking to earn a paycheck. 

VIP Community Services invited a wide range of industries to participate in the fair including city agencies, nonprofit organizations, and corporate.

One candidate, a recent college graduate, said she enjoys the job fair environment more than trying to describe herself through a computer screen. 

Local elected officials said the jobs available are jobs that could lead to careers.

In October 2009, the unemployment rate hit 13.4 percent in the Bronx. As of July of this year, the unemployment rate is down to 6.1 percent.
