Man pistol whips 53-year-old during robbery attempt in the Bronx

A man pistol whipped another man during an attempted robbery in the Bronx, police say.
The incident happened on Sept. 1 in front of 556 Morris Ave.
The suspect approached the 53-year-old man, pulled out a gun and demanded cash.
The 53-year-old refused to hand over money and police say the suspect struck him in the head with a pistol.
Police say the suspect put the gun away, pulled out a small knife, and attempted to cut the 53-year-old.
The two men got into a brief struggle before the 53-year-old was able to run away.
Police say the same suspect is also responsible for robbing a 22-year-old man of his bicycle at gunpoint on Aug. 31 in front of 540 Bergan Ave.
