THE BRONX -

A Bronx native and Cardinal Hayes hoops star will head to the University of Iowa to play Division 1 basketball.

Joe Toussaint announced he will play for the University of Iowa after recently visiting the campus.

Toussaint says he's excited to begin playing Division 1 basketball and owes a lot of credit to his mom.

"She always believed in me. Ever since the day I picked up a basketball she said, 'You're going to be really good one day.'”

Toussaint says it will be an adjustment for him being away from his mom and siblings in the Bronx.
