Police say they are searching for three suspects after a man was shot twice Monday afternoon.

They say the shooting happened on University Avenue near West 183rd Street.

The shooting happened near a school, causing some parents to worry about their children's safety.

"My grandkids are in school, they told me they closed the school, so I ran over here to find out what happened," one parent says.

A spokesperson for the Department of Education says, "Out of an abundance of caution, P.S. 291 went into a brief lockdown as the result of an off-site, non-school-related incident, and all students and staff are safe."

The victim is expected to survive.
