Jewish community gathers for Yom Kippur

RIVERDALE -

Community members gathered at the Riverdale Temple on Independence Avenue Wednesday for the Jewish Day of Atonement known as Yom Kippur.

A somber, hourlong service aimed to unite the community and observe the holiday. It allowed the faithful to reflect and atone for their sins.

News 12 spoke with some parents who said it was their children who encouraged them to attend the service.

Many people would remain at the temple until the end of Yom Kippur.
