Police say an 18-year-old male was stabbed and robbed Thursday outside J.H.S. 166 Roberto Clemente School.

The incident happened in front of the East 164th Street school campus around 1 p.m.

Police say the victim, who's a student at the school, was stabbed in the torso and robbed of his cellphone. They say a group of three to five males was involved.

The victim was taken to Lincoln Medical Center. He was in stable condition.

News 12 is told that the stabbing was possibly gang-related.

The Department of Education says it will be providing the school with more counseling and safety measures following the incident.

"Safety is our top priority, and NYPD and EMS immediately responded to this troubling incident outside of the JHS 166 school building that occurred after dismissal," a DOE spokesperson said in a statement.
