A new and improved Lehman Center for the Performing Arts is opening its doors for its 38th season this Saturday.
The opening show is the Mambo Legends Orchestra with special guest Gilberto Santa Rosa.
This season’s events are expected to get bigger and better than ever before with some international acts, including Olga Tanon, Compania Flamenca, Jose Feliciano and more.
Although the concentration of quality performances is the same, the theater itself has seen many improvements like brand-new carpeting, seating and better accessibility for the elderly and disabled. The upgrades are part of a $15.5 million renovation. The exteriors are expected to be completed by the spring.
The center is starting a new campaign called "Take a Seat," in which donations can be made to buy a plaque on an auditorium seat to help fund future projects.
