Puerto Ricans celebrate anniversary of revolt for independence

Puerto Ricans in the Bronx celebrated a monumental moment in their island's history.
Members of the National Latino Officers Organization (NLOA) organized an event to celebrate El Grito De Lares or the Cry of Lares.
Sunday marked the 150th anniversary of when Puerto Rico first revolted against Spain in an effort to gain independence.
On Sept. 23 1868, Dr. Ramon Bentances led the uprising and drafted a revolutionary flag.
The United States territory is still trying to make a full recovery more than a year after Hurricane Maria hit the island.
NLOA also announced upcoming relief efforts to bring more aid and supplies to Puerto Rico.
