Severe flash flooding leaves parts of Port Jeff underwater

Severe flash flooding Tuesday night in Port Jefferson left parts of the village underwater.
The waist-high waters trapped people in multiple locations, including Theatre Three. A full evacuation was carried out, and officials say no one there was injured.
Mayor Margot Garant says the village fire department was also submerged. Neighboring departments from Coram and Terryville provided aid.
The fire chief says responders rescued people from at least seven vehicles. One car had caught fire.
No injuries were reported as of 10 p.m.
