Man killed during multi-car hit-and-run crash

A man was killed during a hit-and-run crash involving multiple vehicles in the Bronx, police say.
The incident happened on Sunday near Jerome Avenue and E. 233rd Street around 8:17 p.m.
Ramon Monteagudo, 59, of the Bronx, was killed when his car was struck by another vehicle.
Police say multiple cars were involved, but a 2016 white-colored BMW sedan driven by Collin Hedley, 24, of the Bronx, caused the crash.
Investigators say Hedley's BMW crossed over the double yellow lines into the northbound lanes and struck two cars.
Monteagudo's car was struck by Hedley, and he was killed after a fourth car slammed into him.
Monteagudo was transported to Montefiore Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Police say Hedley and a passenger inside the BMW both ran into the woods after the incident, but were later arrested.
Hedley has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident, possession of a controlled substance and driving without a license.
