Literary crawl hopes to bring authors, writers and poets together

Bronx residents looking for some culture took part in a literary crawl Saturday.
The event started at the Mott Haven Bar and Grill with a panel of authors, writers and poets. The goal of the crawl was to bring book lovers, artists and local businesses together.
The literary crawl was organized by "The Bronx is Reading," an organization that works to boost literary culture in the Bronx.
The founder of the organization says after working as a publicist and booking authors across the country, she realized this was something the Bronx could use.
"The event is really to sort of invite people who don't come to traditional book events," said Saraciea Fennell. "There aren't a lot in the Bronx so what I'm trying to do with the literary crawl is to have literary event in non-traditional places."
The crawl will hit local businesses like Nobody's Pizza, Beatstro and Empanology and will last until 7 p.m.
