Loved ones say final goodbyes to boy thrown from BK roof

Family, friends and loved ones said their final goodbyes Sunday to the young boy killed last month after being thrown from the roof of his Midwood home by his own brother.
The mourning mother of 4-year-old Shimron Smith was joined by loved ones at the Caribe Funeral Home to honor her son, whose life was tragically cut short.
Family members tell News 12 that Shimron had just started pre-K and was a very playful and loving boy.
On Sept. 29 at about 3:30 a.m., police say 20-year-old Shawn Smith admitted to throwing his younger brother Shimron off the roof of their home on Nostrand Avenue.
According to people who knew Shawn Smith, they say he was known to be dealing with mental illness.
Officials say it was Shawn Smith who alerted police that his little brother was hurt. And when asked if he meant to hurt his brother, he responded with, “not really.”
Shawn Smith has since been charged with second-degree murder.
The funeral and burial for Shimron will be held on at the Canarsie Cemetery on Monday.
