Food pantry volunteer assaulted in West Farms

Police are investigating an attack at a West Farms food pantry.

Police tell News 12 a volunteer was assaulted as he helped at a church on Vyse Avenue last Thursday.

They say two men approached the 56-year-old victim and got into an argument. The pair punched the victim in the face and hit him in the back of the head with a metal pushcart.

Police say the victim received stitches in his head following the assault.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
