Police: 24-year-old shot in the head in Wakefield

WAKEFIELD -

A 24-year-old man is in serious condition after being shot in the head early this morning in Wakefield.

Police say the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. on White Plains Road.

Police blocked off part of the road just before the 2 train entrance at 241st Street.

News 12 has been told that the shooting happened after a dispute and the suspect is still on the loose.

People in the area say shootings in the neighborhood make them worry about their safety.

The victim was taken to Jacobi Medical Center.

No arrests have been made but police are continuing with an investigation.
