Police: Man struck on Southern Boulevard in West Farms

Police say a man was struck by an oncoming vehicle on Southern Boulevard Wednesday.

Police say it happened at 6:30 p.m. 

Witnesses say they heard a loud bang and rushed to the middle of the road to make sure the man was OK. They say they were flashing the lights on their phones to warn the oncoming traffic.

The witnesses say they physically blocked the driver who struck the man from leaving the scene.

The man was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital. Police say he's in critical condition.
