Some neighbors in Morrisania say the roots of a tree on Bryant Avenue are bound to destroy their properties.

The roots have already been blamed for ruining the sidewalk.

Neighbors say the city’s plan to put cement on top of the roots will not solve the problem.

The Parks Department told News 12: “This site is slated for concrete pouring tomorrow, Nov. 9. Upon starting this project, we discovered that this address required additional hand excavation and a tree and root assessment…Together they collaborated to address the unforeseen issues and we are happy to be moving forward with repairing the sidewalk."

Neighbors hope the Parks Department sticks to its word.
