Fundraiser held to honor fallen hero, support members of armed forces

A Throggs Neck bar held a fundraiser Sunday to honor a fallen hero and support other men and women in the armed forces.
Army Sgt. Christian Engeldrum was killed in the line of duty in 2004.
He died while serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The fundraiser held in his honor at Brewski's Bar and Grill also supported the active troops overseas, and showed gratitude for local veterans at home.
"There is awareness this whole week because we have the parade coming up next week going way down Tremont Avenue. What we're doing here is we're actually raising funds and we're gonna send care packages to the troops overseas and these are packages that will contain essential items that the troops can use in a very practical way," says Albie Torressen, owner of Brewski's Bar & Grill.
Some of the proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards the Throggs Neck Veteran's Day Parade scheduled for next Sunday.
