It has been 17 years since a commercial jet crash landed in Belle Harbor in Queens killing all 260 people on board and five on the ground.
American Airlines Flight 587 took off from John F. Kennedy Airport on Nov. 12, 2001, but after only a few minutes the flight bound for the Dominican Republic was no more.
The crash sparked fears of another terror attack as it took place two months after Sept. 11.
Investigators say the plane was brought down by a mechanical malfunction.
