A woman was fatally shot through the peephole of her home in Grand Concourse over the weekend.
Authorities say 45-year-old Wendy Martinez was shot in the face through her apartment door peephole on Saturday. Police believe she was not the intended target in the shooting.
Her son, Brian Solano, has been awaiting trial in a separate murder. He is charged in the 2014 shooting death of Willie Lora. Solano was released from jail last year after private investigator Manuel Gomez says he uncovered evidence that resulted in Solano's release prior to trial.
Solano was due to appear in court this Monday, but the Bronx District Attorney's Office says that appearance has been postponed until next Monday because of the shooting.
