A judge issued a stern warning Monday after Bronx native Cardi B failed to make a scheduled court appearance for misdemeanor charges that stem from an August assault.
The rapper was due to appear at Queens County Criminal Courthouse. Her attorney told reporters that Cardi B couldn't make it because of a conflict in her schedule.
The Bronx-born rapper, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, faces assault charges stemming from a strip club brawl. A female bartender who was accused of sleeping with Cardi B's husband, the rapper Offset, was injured.
According to a photo posted on Instagram today, Cardi B is in Miami for the City Girls' "Twerk" music video.
"You have to understand, this is not about saying, 'Screw it, I'm not going to go to court, I have other things to do,'" Cardi B's attorney tells News 12. "As I said in court, she has manager issues, she has things scheduled."
Today would have been Cardi B's first appearance for the August brawl. The judge in the case issued a warning to her legal team not to miss the next court date.
"The judge's message was received loud and clear," her attorney says.
Cardi B is now scheduled to appear in Queens court on Friday. If she fails to show up, a warrant could be issued for her arrest.
