Local leaders joined to condemn a crime that targeted a Williamsburg church over the weekend.
The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating after two angel statues were shattered outside Our Lady of Consolation Sunday.
Surveillance video appears to show a man urinate on the statues before smashing them into the sidewalk.
Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams was among those to denounce the hateful act.
"Those who will use intimidation and other means to scare and divide us will fail, because we know that our courage and determination to live in peace and harmony will outlast any hate and fear," says Kashif Hussain of the Pakistani-American Youth Society.
The act on Sunday was reportedly the sixth time in eight years the church has been desecrated.
Leaders say they are pledging to help the church make the necessary repairs. But Kieran Harrington of the Diocese of Brooklyn says they are asking the money be directed to help homeless children and those struggling with addiction.
"We can find a few dollars to respond to rebuilding the statue, but let's work to build a fraction of our society that is caused by these two massive problems," says Harrington. "That would be something which we can all come together with as a society ... respond to hatred with love and the way we can respond in love is respond to others who are in need."
Anyone with information about the destruction of the statue is asked to call police.
