New Bronx Chamber of Commerce president lays out vision for future

The new president of the Bronx Chamber of Commerce told News 12 Tuesday that the borough is “going through a renaissance” that she’s never seen before.
Lisa Sorin, a Morris Park native, was selected to lead the chamber last month and officially took over on Friday. While she's new in the role, she's not new to business or community engagement. Her last role was the executive director for the Westchester Square Business Improvement District where she helped revitalize the area.
"When I took over the BID, it was a really known as this transportation hub,” says Sorin. “But over the course of six years, I'm proud to say we developed the plaza. We got really strong retail which wasn’t there before."
Sorin says she has a clear vision of what she wants to do in the rest of the borough, including growing the South Bronx, Riverdale and Woodlawn.
“Right now, I see the chamber concentrated in one area. I'd like to see us really expand," she says.
