Bronx woman provides free holiday meals in The Hub

THE HUB -

A Bronx woman provided free meals to anyone who passed through The Hub on Christmas.

Monique Gary-Narayanan cooked macaroni and cheese, cabbage, candied yams and dessert - all from scratch.

Gary-Narayanan says while she never lived on the streets, she knew what it felt like not to have a home.

"I came from a home where my mom didn't want me, she was very abusive to me, her and her boyfriend would get into arguments and beat me up to where the police had to take me away from her," she says.

Gary-Narayanan then had a child at 17 and was kicked out of her grandparents home. She says it took a lot stay strong.

"I felt why not give to those most in need instead of isolating myself go out and be with them and put a smile on their face," she says.
