New York residents earning minimum wage will be getting a raise in the new year.
City businesses with 11 or more people will have to pay hourly worker $15 an hour, which is up from the current rate of $13 an hour.
Employees say they're happy about it while some business owners are worried about how they will adjust to the higher labor costs.
Gov. Cuomo says he wants to ensure all businesses are following the new rules. He urged workers to call the state's Department of Labor hotline to report any employer who does not comply with the minimum wage hike.
The Department of Labor's hotline is 1-888-4-N-Y-S-D-O-L.
