Questions swirl around Marble Hill marijuana grow house

Police have remained tight-lipped regarding who is responsible for a marijuana grow house in two apartments in Marble Hill.
They have also not said how much marijuana was confiscated when they made the bust Thursday.
The owner of the building on Jacobus Place was cited by the Department of Buildings for work without a permit. DOB officials say they found illegal plumbing for electrical work, along with partitions inside both apartments.
The DOB clarified to News 12 that does not imply the building’s owner was involved with any illegal activity. Violations are always issued to the landlord, not the tenant.
Emergency officials say a call came in Thursday around noon for downed wires. Some neighbors on the fourth and fifth floors said they received knocks on their doors from authorities asking them to leave because of a possible gas leak. That’s when the pot plants were found.
The drugs and grow house equipment were removed from the building and placed in the back of squad cars.
Building management has not returned News 12’s call for comment.
