Police: Man fatally shot inside Southern Boulevard apartment

A man was found dead on the floor of his Claremont apartment Friday night, police say.
Police say they received a 911 call of an assault inside the Southern Boulevard apartment.
Responding officers found the 32-year-old lying on the floor of his apartment with a gunshot wound to the stomach.
He was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The apparent murder broke a seven-day streak in New York City without any reported homicides, and has left friends of the victim stunned.
"He was a really great person," said Yaw Donkor. "He was a good guy. Everybody in this building know him. He was a great person, moving around, nice to everybody, taking care of everybody, making sure everyone was good but he didn't deserve this."
Identification is pending family notification.
No arrests have been made.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
