Diversity reigns as 116th session of Congress begins

It was a historic day in Washington D.C. Thursday as the 116th session of Congress began.
A blue wave, led by diverse women, took over the House of Representatives.
At 29 years old, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, of the Bronx, became the youngest female to be seated in the House.
Rep. Ilhan Omar became the first to wear a hijab in the House. Reps. Deb Halland and Sharice Davids became the first indigenous women. Rep. Davids is also the first openly LGBTQ person to represent her state.
The 116th Congress is welcoming 40 women, 10 Hispanic/Latino members and five LGBTQ members.
