NORWOOD -

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the person they say shot a man while he was walking down the street in Norwood.

The 31-year-old man is recovering this morning after getting shot in the leg.

Officials say the victim was walking along Jerome Avenue and 208th Street when he heard gunshots around 10 p.m. Thursday.

The victim then had the shocking realization that he had been struck by the gunfire, feeling pain in his leg where the bullet entered.

Luckily for him, Montefiore Medical Center is just a block away and the victim was able to make it there without an ambulance.

He walked himself into hospital with gunshot wounds to his thigh and is expected to be OK.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
