Daughter of 9/11 survivor has artwork displayed at famous gallery

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

A 17-year-old artist whose father survived the 9/11 attacks is making a big splash in the art world.

Hope Buzzelli's artwork, two acrylic paintings called "Pressure" and "Back to School," are on display at the HG Contemporary Gallery. The gallery is owned by Philippe Guggenheim, of the Guggenheim family.

The Bronx teen's father, Pasquale, worked at the World Trade Center as a structural engineer during the attacks.

Buzzelli says she's been painting since she was young but it wasn't until she met her mentor last year, artist Sean Sullivan, that her career began to take off.

Other works of Buzzelli's include a large-scale graffiti project and an exclusive collection for an interior decorator.

Buzzelli says she wants to apply to Cooper Union for art school next year.
