Monthlong construction project on Pelham Parkway begins

Major road construction on Pelham Parkway over the next few weeks is likely going to cause serious headaches for people in the area.
Starting Monday, the Department of Design and Construction is shutting down some lanes between Stillwell Avenue and Boston Road on the westbound side of Pelham Parkway.
It's all so the DDC can install new water mains and curbs.
There won't be any disruptions to the water, gas or electric services to local businesses and residents, and access to emergency vehicles, pedestrians and through traffic will be maintained.
The DDC warns that with the construction will come with some noise,  but it says it will work to keep it confined to the Department of Environmental Protection regulations.
It’s advised to head out earlier than usual to avoid any traffic hassles.
Construction is expected to be finished by Feb. 8.
