Grand Concourse post office to be transformed into shopping, dining space

A landmark staple in Grand Concourse will be bringing more food and shopping options in the near future.
For many years, 556 Grand Concourse has been home to a post office. It is set to get a totally different look.
Shopping, office space, valet parking and rooftop restaurants, all surrounded by glass, are expected for the building.
A source within the company MHP Real Estate confirms they, along with Banyan Street Capital, is in contract to buy it for more than $70 million.
The post office will not be going anywhere during the project, just moving over to a smaller section just around the corner.
