The city Department of Education has confirmed that Carlos Medina, who is accused of raping a 12-year-old girl, worked as a custodian at P.S. 69 in Harding Park.
It released a statement saying, "This non-school related allegation is incredibly disturbing and this individual has been terminated."
Medina, 51, pleaded not guilty to sex charges including rape, predatory sexual assault, criminal sex act and sexual abuse.
According to court papers, Medina used a fake police badge to lure the pre-teen into his car in the Soundview section of the borough. He then allegedly took the girl to a motel in Pelham Bay. It's there where court papers say the girl was raped multiple times. She eventually was able to get away.
Medina turned himself in Thursday after surveillance video of him as a suspect in the case was shared online. His next court appearance will be Tuesday, Jan. 15.
