Councilmember maintains holiday spirit with toy giveaway

Posted: Updated:

While the holiday season is over, Bronx Councilmember Mark Gjonaj chose to extend the season of giving Sunday.

Gjonaj, who represents the 13th Council District, organized a toy giveaway at his office to families in need.

He says he is inspired by the generosity of the community.

"This is all about giving back to the community and putting a smile on every child's face - through the generosity of supporters from the community who were able to support families and young men and women that get to enjoy an extra gift this year. We don't realize that there are many families that are out there that look like they're financially on good footing, but they're really not and their children are deprived of holiday toys. This is just a way of giving back to them and letting them know that there are people who do care," says Gjonaj.

Gjonaj was elected to the New York City Council in 2017.
