Twin Parks West to undergo $38M renovation over next 3 years

NYCHA announced Monday that a building in Fordham will be receiving a $38 million renovation.
The multimillion-dollar investment to renovate apartments at Twin Parks West is part of a NYCHA program that converts public housing apartments into Section 8 units, that will allow NYCHA and private developers to tap into more federal funding for extensive and immediate repairs.
The full-scale renovation, which will occur over the next three years, also includes upgrades to heating, plumbing and electrical systems. New lighting, security cameras and landscaping are also included.
Other renovations include renovating the community center, improvements to the playground and basketball courts, and a new laundry room and fitness area.
Longtime residents say they're thankful their battle for better living conditions is finally becoming a reality.
Community leaders say families will not be displaced during the renovation process and that the rent will be kept affordable for working families.
