The Westchester Square Business Improvement District is under new management and looking to improve the already bustling area.

Westchester Square BID Executive Director Yasmin Cruz says she has big plans for the business area and wants make sure merchants feel supported.

Although Cruz has only been on the job for a few weeks, she is familiar with the Westchester Square BID. She previously helped plan the annual event fair at the square.

Cruz tells News 12 she wants to make sure merchants are financially stable and up to date with the current law surrounding small businesses.

She says that in addition to events, she wants to host business boot camps that offer merchants classes on topics like finances and marketing.

“We want to give them the tools for them to grow,” she says.

Cruz will also have a business pop-up store event so people can get a chance to see what all the merchants have to offer.
